2025/2026 Preschool Registration

Parkcrest Children’s Centre would like to inform you of an important change to our program structure that we believe will enhance the educational experience for our children and better meet the needs of our families.

After careful consideration and feedback from parents, educators, and Board members, we have decided to transition from our current 2-and 3-day morning and afternoon class schedule to a new model that will offer 4-hour classes, five times a week. This change is set to take effect for the 2025/2026 school year.

Reasons for the Change:

Enhanced Learning Opportunities: A consistent 4-hour schedule allows for more in-depth exploration of topics and activities, fostering a richer learning environment. Children will have more time to engage in hands-on experiences, collaborative projects, and focused learning.

Improved Family Scheduling: This new structure aims to simplify scheduling for families, providing a more predictable routine while also offering flexibility to accommodate various needs.

Developmental Benefits: Research suggests that longer, uninterrupted blocks of time can enhance children's attention spans, social interactions, and overall development. Our educators are excited about the potential for deeper engagement and learning.

Feedback from the community: We have gathered input from parents and staff, and there is a strong consensus that this change aligns with our commitment to providing a high-quality preschool experience.

Long-term Longevity: By evolving our program to meet current educational trends and family needs, we are positioning Parkcrest Children’s Centre for long-term success. A more robust and attractive program will not only enhance children’s outcomes but also ensure that our preschool remains a competitive and desirable choice for families in our community for years to come.

New preschool hours:

Parkcrest Children’s Centre new hours will operate from 9:30am – 1:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Availability:

18 five-day spaces with some shared two- or three-day options will be available at the current Centre, with additional spaces once the new Centre opens and Fraser Health Licensing sets the capacity. A maximum of 4 children requiring extra support will be considered to register for a shared space and will be determined based on the level of funding provided by Supported Child Development.

Registration:

Current families will have priority registration for the 2025-2026 preschool year. New families are encouraged to book a tour prior and can be added to our waitlist. Registration may be completed upon availability of class spaces.
