1 How many children and teachers per class?
The school age program has a maximum capacity of 24 children and 2-3 staff. Our hours of operation are from 7am to 9am and 3pm to 6pm. We offer our services for early dismissals, school pro d days (all day), a few days for winter break and one week during spring break (adjusted hours) at an additional cost.
Preschool classes have a maximum capacity of 20 children, 2 main teachers and additional support staff as required. Please note that we plan on changing our classes to one 4 hour class, 5 days a week for the 2025-2026 school year. Details to come.
2 Do you supply snacks?
After school snack is provided for school age children.
Preschool children should bring a healthy lunch from home each class.
3 What type of food allergy policies do you have?
Many children have food allergies such as peanuts. At Parkcrest we have a no "peanut/tree nut" policy. If there are any food allergies or medical conditions, please inform us so that we can take the necessary precautions.
4 Do you have any field trips planned?
We have field trips planned on Pro'd Day for our Out of school program. We plan a couple of field trips during the school year for our Preschool programs.
5 Do you have a wait list?
We have over 100 children on our wait list for the school age program. Children who’s school catchment is Parkcrest or Aubrey can be added to our waitlist. Please send us an email with your child’s full name, date of birth, parent/guardian name and a local telephone number. We will contact you when spaces is available.

6 Is there parent participation? Do parents need to volunteer?
Parkcrest Child Care Society has more than 27 years of history in delivering out of school care and preschool programs and services to the Burnaby North community.
Strong communities rely on their own resources, and Parkcrest is both a strong and evolving facility with ever-changing needs. One of those needs is for you to get involved and Parkcrest offers a great opportunity to do so.
By becoming a Board Member, you can channel your ideas and energy to help identify and meet the needs of local families and contribute towards building a stronger Centre.
If you have children that are attending one of our programs and you are interested in sharing your time, please let one of us know.
7 Are the classes for three and four year olds mixed?
Yes, all our classes are mixed ages.
8 Can we come visit the centre?
Yes, of course! Preschool families are welcome to visit. Please email us to book a tour and meet the staff.
Our school age families can book a tour upon receiving a call that a spot is available for your child.
9 What is the registration processs?
The registration process is simple!
Preschool families can register starting in February of the year children turn 3. Specific weeks are prioritized by the following: Week 1 - registration for returning children (2nd year). Week 2 - returning families (siblings). Week 3 – all new families. Availability is on a first come, first serve basis. Forms can be found on our website and are specific to your registration week.
